Summary
2006
Media
reports continue to forecast doom and gloom in the real estate arena
throughout the country. But, in the Harbor Springs area, the market is
holding steady, or even improving a bit. Volumes sold in 2006, in both
units and dollars, were either equal to or better than 2005, with the
exception of vacant land outside of Birchwood. In all of the Harbor Springs
area, for single family homes, total dollars sold was up 10% while the
number of units sold was up 4%. Within Birchwood, both lot and home sales
were up.
Sales
which are not reported in the MLS include for sale by owners and transfers
within families. All sales involving licensed realtors “should” be included
in the MLS numbers.
